Discovering Latin America operates in the UK (Nº 1106705) and Spain (Nº 588127). Today, more than 300 volunteers from 25 countries participate in bringing to life our events and activities.

Discovering Latin America was created as a non-governmental organisation in August 2002 and was co-founded by two leaders: Claudia Ruiz from Colombia and Mauricio Davila from Mexico.

We share a common passion for this region of the world and pursue three main objectives:

  • To showcase Latin America to the general public in the countries where we operate through festivals, exhibitions, meetings, conferences, events and other activities.
  • To identify and invest in initiatives that will contribute to the transformation of Latin America, prioritising the following areas: education, health, water and sanitation, livelihood and rural development.
  • To grow as an organisation offering exciting opportunities for our volunteers in order to develop and improve their skills and talents.
